c.1952 Marx, Rex Mars Sparkling Planet Patrol Space Tank in Original Box

Magnificent clockwork tin litho doughboy style tank from Marx in near mint condition, complete with original box and key. Features pop-up helmeted gunner with space rifle. The hatch raises periodically, he emerges, aims, and then suddenly retreats within. Tank turret throws sparks as it moves forward while making a grinding sound.

Beautifully lithographed in a matte finish of light blue, dark blue, red, white, and bronze. Lithoed on the sides are rockets, ray guns, exhaust pipes trailing brown smoke, and tank wheels. The pilot and copilot are lithoed on the front, while plumes of white smoke exhaust through the rear.

Moves using its two main wooden wheels, but steers randomly using its pivoting front rubber tire. Includes original flint holder and new flint which sparks.

Awesome box printed similarly in a matte type finish. Shows a side view of the tank with the gunner squeezing off a few rounds. Presumably, Rex leads the charge outside the vehicle although he's probably a little cold. Side panels show ¾ view of the tank including the front pilot.

It works beautifully! It does have an old key (no photo) which fits perfectly, but I doubt it was original.

Size: 10" x 4" x 5".
